President Donald Trump has unveiled what he terms a “historic” agreement aiming for the total disarmament of Hamas, marking it as a crucial move toward resolving the ongoing conflict in Gaza. The announcement, made via social media, has not yet been officially confirmed by either the Israeli government or Hamas.
As outlined by Trump, the proposed plan involves Hamas gradually dismantling its military assets, including the destruction of its tunnel network and the surrender of heavy weaponry under international supervision. In exchange, Israeli military forces would progressively withdraw from Gaza, with an international stabilization force along with a new Palestinian security administration taking over the responsibility of maintaining order.
The plan also calls for an immediate cessation of military operations ahead of the disarmament process. This stage would involve the dismantling of heavy weapons, tunnels, and military infrastructure under the scrutiny of an international verification committee. Reports suggest that Hamas has agreed to this framework in principle, with preparations for disarmament slated to commence within 14 days, contingent upon international approval and consensus from all parties involved.
