Iran has firmly denied any involvement in the ongoing conflict in Yemen, asserting that the Houthi forces operate autonomously and make decisions independently. Esmaeil Baghaei, the spokesperson for Iran’s Foreign Ministry, stated that Tehran does not interfere in Yemen’s internal affairs, dismissing allegations that link Iran to the recent tensions involving Saudi Arabia and Yemen. He emphasized that the conflict stems from deep-rooted issues within Yemen itself.
Baghaei also announced that a scheduled meeting in Oman, which was to include Iran and Gulf countries, had been postponed at the request of Saudi Arabia. This meeting was intended to discuss regional security and cooperation matters. Additionally, it was to offer Iran and Oman a platform to present an understanding they had reached regarding maritime routes in the strategic Strait of Hormuz. Despite the delay, Baghaei confirmed that this agreement between Iran and Oman had been finalized, and both nations would determine the next steps forward.
Oman’s Foreign Minister, Badr Albusaidi, commented on the postponement of the regional meeting, explaining that it was deferred to foster consensus among the involved parties. He reiterated Oman’s steadfast commitment to dialogue, regional stability, and fostering long-term cooperation across the region.
