Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke of “sorrow and strength” in a call for resilience after a deadly blast in Delhi killed eight people. His message to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Indian people was one of deep sympathy and unwavering support.
“Israel stands strong with you in sorrow and in strength in this time,” Netanyahu affirmed, after offering “deepest condolences” on behalf of himself, his wife Sara, and the Israeli people. He addressed Modi as his “dear friend,” highlighting their close relationship.
The core of Netanyahu’s message was defiance. “Terror may strike our cities, but it will never shake our souls,” he said. He emphasized the “unyielding spirit” of India and Israel, which he described as “ancient civilisations” that will “outshine the darkness” of their foes.
This statement of solidarity was echoed by Israel’s Foreign Minister, Gideon Saar, who also offered condolences and stated, “Israel stands with India in its fight against terror.”
The investigation into the attack, which involved a Hyundai i20 car near the Red Fort, has been escalated. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) is now leading the probe, which is focused on a suspected Jaish-e-Mohammad terror module.
