Ukraine is refusing to accept a peace deal requiring it to give up major territories to Russia. Zelenskyy said the country is under extraordinary pressure as Trump pushes a Thanksgiving deadline for signing. The proposal demands military restrictions and territorial concessions.
Trump said Ukraine “will have to like it,” insisting Kyiv cannot defend the Donbas militarily. Ukrainian officials said the proposal was developed without them and is unacceptable. European leaders agree the plan undermines Ukraine’s sovereignty.
Zelenskyy said accepting the plan would erase Ukraine’s dignity. He warned that rejecting it brings the risk of losing crucial US support. Winter is approaching, and Russia continues attacking power infrastructure.
He vowed never to break Ukraine’s constitution or betray the sacrifices made since the invasion began. He said peace must be genuine, durable, and capable of withstanding another Russian assault. Ukraine will offer its own proposals.
European leaders reaffirmed their support, insisting that any agreement must protect Ukraine’s long-term security and territorial integrity.
